Font - Erulastiel 7 hr. ago Just don't go. It's your job, not your family. Why would you want to socialize with your coworkers anyway? Reply Share 2.0k jlm8981victorian OP 7 hr. ago Exactly! And I'm sure as hell not paying money to do so. If I were to show up with my family, this would easily cost $125-150 for us to attend. 844 Reply Share

I've never been to a company picnic where the employees have to pay for it. At this point, is it even a company picnic? 611 Reply Share

Font - Marsdeeni90. 7 hr. ago By not.going. they can't charge you for something you're not attending. Also they can't force you into a work setting without paying you, so if you HAVE to pay it's voluntary, and.if it's voluntary you have 0 obligation to go OR pay. Reply Share 9.6k

Font - GlitteringBobcat999 - 4 hr. ago I had a boss in an outpatient medical setting who loved having potluck lunches. Eating in the patient care area (rehab gym) is a big no-no, but she did it anyway. I quickly opted out because (a) I hate potlucks, (b) she always said grace before eating, even though it was a public and secular organization (essentially forcing her religion on others), (c) I did my workouts during lunchtime - i.e., that hour is mine.

Font - Anyway, evaluation time comes along, and she begins by lowering my rating because I hadn't been attending the potlucks. I quickly let her know that was not part of my job, lunchtime is my time, and we might have to have this discussion with HR. Having called her bluff, she backed off, but it was one of the more ridiculous things I've encountered in a performance review. Fong forced fun is not fun.

Font - muttheart 7 hr. ago Don't RSVP, don't go. If they ask say "$37.67 for myself, plus the additional cost to bring my family, is outside of my budget for a work event. Thank you for the invite". Make sure to put it in writing in case they try to pull some shit down the line for not "being part of the team" or whatever. 1.8k Reply Share ... jlm8981victorian OP. 7 hr. ago Ok, I think it's a good idea to put it in writing since there could be something brought up about not being a team. Font - ColumbusMark. 7 hr. ago If you have to pay for it, then it's not a company picnic. It's an informal co- workers' get-together. 4 648 in Reply Share aznxtl 6 hr. ago . I use to work for an amusement park in group sales. When a company shows interest they are usually offered a group rate and catering with price per person. growing up in a majority blue collar area, my parents company picnics have always been similar to this. I might consider going if my kids were the right age and the $25 to get in was a massive discount from the normal ticket price... but I would not partake in the ripoff lunch. Font - benjani12463 7 hr. ago . I would refuse to go purely for the weirdly specific pricing, 12.72? 9.54? Are they suggesting they calculated the cost of the food down to the 0.01c? 329 Reply Share SpaceballsTheCritic · 7 hr. ago This is probably the cost to table from the amusement park place for the lunch meal. 93 Reply Share

Font - HeyMissKayy 7 hr. ago I've had various management roles in my work life, including a "senior manager" title. My teams and departments were alwa6s notorious for never attending company events outside work hours because I would actively discourage them from going. I never went to these stupid things, even when they were free. I had a manager threaten my job over attending a Christmas party once, but I still didn't go, he was too big of a coward to back up his threat. I ended up leaving for

Font - AgeSad 7 hr. ago Simply don't go. Tell them you can't go and don't pay. 76 Reply Share jlm8981victorian OP. 7 hr. ago Absolutely! I don't plan on it. This takes some cajones to ask of your employees who already don't get paid what they're worth! 33 Reply Share
